BUTUAN CITY – The Parole and Probation Administration (PPA) in Bislig City is currently seeking volunteers as part of its program to strengthen its workforce. According to Alex Castaños, the supervising probation and parole officer in charge of Bislig City, their current manpower is insufficient compared to the number of clients they serve.
Castaños emphasized that the PPA, a long-established government agency, aims to help rehabilitate individuals who have committed crimes, have shown remorse, and are willing to undergo rehabilitation. Their services include probation, parole, executive clemency, or conditional pardon, with particular benefits for first-time minor offenders through RA 10389, which allows release on recognizance for those eligible.
At present, the PPA offers three major programs for inmates. The first is the I CARE program for individuals with serious cases, followed by HULAGPOS for drug offenders, and the Livelihood Education Access Program (LEP), which provides education and training to prisoners in partnership with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).
