BUTUAN CITY – A soldier and his brother were shot dead during a videoke session in Butuan City following a fight over a microphone.
Authorities from the Butuan City Police Station (BCPS-5) are still searching for the unidentified gunman who opened fire on the victims in Purok 18, Brgy. San Mateo.
The soldier was identified as Guso Tayco, a resident of Purok 27 in the same barangay, while his brother was from Brgy. Salvacion.
According to an initial police investigation, the incident occurred around 7:00 PM while the victims were drinking behind a store. The suspect and another man arrived at the scene, and when it was the suspect’s turn to sing, the soldier allegedly grabbed the microphone. This led to a fistfight that escalated into a deadly shooting.
The soldier was killed on the spot, while his brother managed to run home but later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. Witnesses reported hearing seven gunshots during the incident.
Authorities are continuing their investigation to track down the suspect.
