BUTUAN CITY – The Surigao del Sur Police Provincial Office has formed a Special Investigation Task Group (SITG) to focus on the case of a radio commentator who was shot dead in broad daylight in Purok 3, John Bosco District, Brgy. Mangagoy, Bislig City.
The victim, 63-year-old Erwin “Boy Pana” Segovia of Wow FM, was declared dead on the spot after being shot in the head by unidentified assailants riding in tandem on a motorcycle. The incident happened around 8:50 AM yesterday, shortly after Segovia finished his live radio program and was on his way home.
Police Regional Office 13 (PRO-13) spokesperson PMaj. Jennifer Ometer said the investigation is ongoing to determine the motive behind the killing and to identify and apprehend the perpetrators.
A hot pursuit operation is currently underway.
PMaj. Ometer also clarified that while there have been public reports of a PHP 2 million reward for anyone who can provide information on the suspects’ whereabouts, the police have not officially received or confirmed such a bounty.
She emphasized that only those who made the announcement can verify if the reward exists.
The Surigao del Sur police continue to appeal to the public for any information that may help bring justice to Segovia’s killing.
