BUTUAN CITY – Thousands of people gathered last night at the Sports Complex in Barangay Libertad, Butuan City, to participate in a prayer rally in celebration of the 80th birthday of former President Rodrigo Duterte.

The event filled the sports complex, with attendees coming from surrounding areas, including Agusan del Sur. One of the participants was Ronald Ampo, a resident of Nasipit, Agusan del Norte.

In an exclusive interview with Bombo Radyo Butuan, Ampo explained that he joined the prayer rally to show his support for former President Duterte and his family.

He expressed concern over the current administration, accusing it of relentlessly targeting the Duterte family, which he believes has led to the nation’s lack of progress. He also criticized the absence of significant projects being implemented under the current leadership.

One of Ampo’s main concerns was the decision to send Duterte to the International Criminal Court (ICC). He questioned why, if the former president had committed any wrongdoing, it was not being addressed in the Philippines.

Ampo’s message to Duterte was one of continued support, with hopes that the former president would soon return to the Philippines.

Meanwhile, former Barangay Councilor Datumanong Mamongcara also joined the rally. He prayed at the conclusion of Ramadan, asking for Duterte’s safe return to the country and for his continued good health.

Mamongcara also emphasized the group’s call for the return of the Duterte family to government, citing concerns over the resurgence of illegal drugs.
