BUTUAN CITY – Brigadier General Arsenio Sadural, Brigade Commander of the 901st Infantry Brigade, Philippine Army, confirmed that a reward of over ₱5M that has been placed on the head of the late Myrna Sularte, also known as Ka Maria Malaya.
However, the official clarified that they are not yet addressing who might be eligible for the reward money, as they are currently focused on operations against Ka Maria Malaya’s companions who managed to escape.
According to Brigadier General Sadural, about 40 rebels have been monitored as associates of the slain top NPA leader and this number is significantly lower than the 120 rebels that soldiers had previously monitored in November 2023.
The official also added that they are currently handling the turnover of the body to the family who will claim it.
Myrna Sularte or Ka Maria Malaya, was the top leader and the secretary of the Northeastern Mindanao Regional Committee (NEMRC) and also a member of the political bureau of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP)
