A tragic road accident occurred Tuesday along ML Quezon Avenue in Brgy. Pusok, Lapu-Lapu City, near Pusok Elementary School, resulting in the death of a young boy and injuries to two others.

According to a Facebook post by Mayor Ahong Chan, the driver of a Mitsubishi Xpander reportedly fell asleep at the wheel and struck three pedestrians — a 7-year-old boy, a 64-year-old woman, and a 41-year-old woman.

The 7-year-old boy succumbed to a head injury, while the 64-year-old woman sustained broken arms and is currently hospitalized at Lapu-Lapu City Hospital. The 41-year-old woman, an employee of MEPZ, is being treated at a private hospital.

Following the collision, the vehicle also crashed into a multicab before coming to a stop. A dashcam captured the moment, showing the car speeding up, losing control, and striking a woman walking along the road.
