BUTUAN CITY – A tragic coach accident near Wheddon Cross, Somerset, has left one child dead and multiple injured after a school coach carrying around 70 people—mostly pupils from Minehead Middle School—overturned and fell 20 feet down a slope on Thursday afternoon.
Emergency services rushed to the scene, deploying over 20 ambulances, three air ambulances, and fire crews who worked under extreme conditions to rescue those trapped.
Two children were seriously injured and airlifted to hospital, and 21 people in total were taken for medical treatment, while others were supported at a local rest center.
Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer called the incident “heartbreaking,” as an urgent investigation is now underway, with the school and coach company cooperating fully.
