The official X account of slain Al Jazeera journalist Anas Al-Sharif has shared his final message, written on April 6, 2025, with instructions for it to be published in the event of his death.

“This is my will and my final message. If these words reach you, know that Israel has succeeded in killing me and silencing my voice. First, peace be upon you and the mercy and blessings of Allah. Allah knows that I have put all my efforts and all my strength into being a support and a voice for my people, since I opened my eyes to life in the alleys and streets of the Jabaliya refugee camp. I hoped that Allah would prolong my life so that I could return with my family and loved ones to our original city of occupied Ashkelon (Al-Majdal). However, Allah’s will was first and His decision is final. I have experienced pain, tasted suffering and loss many times, but I have never hesitated to convey the truth as it is, without distortion or falsification – so that Allah may bear witness against those who remained silent, those who accepted our killing, those who strangled us and whose hearts were not touched by the scattered remains of our children and women, doing nothing to stop the massacre that our people have faced for more than a year and a half”, Al-Sharif wrote.

He followed it with a message directed at all citizens.

“I entrust to you Palestine – the jewel in the crown of the Muslim world, the heart of every free person in this world. I entrust to you its people, its injustice and its innocent children who never had time to dream or live in security and peace. Their pure bodies were crushed under thousands of tons of Israeli bombs and rockets, torn apart and scattered across walls. I call on you not to let chains silence you, nor borders hinder you. Be a bridge to the liberation of the land and its people, until the sun of dignity and freedom shines on our stolen homeland. I entrust to you to take care of my family. I entrust to you my beloved daughter Sham, the apple of my eye, whom I never had the chance to see grow up as I dreamed.”, Sharif continued.

“I entrust to you my beloved son, Salah, whom I wanted to support and accompany throughout his life until he became strong enough to carry my burden and continue the mission. I entrust to you my beloved mother, whose blessed prayers brought me to where I am, whose prayers were my fortress and whose light guided my path. I pray that Allah will give her strength and reward her.”, the message says.

In the message, he declared that if death came, he would meet it firmly holding to his principles.

“I also entrust to you my life companion, my beloved wife, Umm Salah (Bayan), from whom the war separated me for many long days and months. However, she remained faithful to our bond, firm as an olive tree that does not bend – patient, believing in Allah and bearing responsibility in my absence with all her strength and faith. I call on you to stand by them, to be their support after Allah Almighty. If I die, I die firm in my principles. I bear witness before Allah that I am pleased with His appointment, certain of meeting Him, and convinced that what is with Allah is better and more eternal. O Allah, accept me among the martyrs, forgive my past and future sins, and make my blood a light that illuminates the path of freedom for my people and my family. Forgive me if I have erred. Do not forget Gaza… And do not forget me in your sincere prayers. Prayers for “forgiveness and acceptance, the message ends.
