BUTUAN CITY – A 47-year-old farmer, Ananias Tado Abad, was found dead in his home in Sitio Palilihan, Mahanub, Gigaquit, Surigao del Norte, after neighbors noticed a strong odor coming from the house on March 23, 2025.
Concerned by the foul smell, the neighbors reported the discovery to the police the following day, March 24, 2025. Upon investigation, authorities found Abad’s body in a state of decomposition inside his residence.
Abad, who was living alone, had not shown signs of distress. His family told the investigating police officers had previously encouraged him to live with them, but he had declined their offers.
PLT. Dary Paul Apurada, Officer-in-Charge of the Gigaquit Municipal Police Station, stated that there were no indications of foul play, and early investigations suggest that the cause of death may be linked to an old head injury sustained by Abad in a motorcycle accident in the past.
The police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding his death, particularly whether the head injury played a role in his passing.
