Two Russians dead in Batangas scuba diving incident – one victim loses arm in suspected Shark Attack

BUTUAN CITY – Two Russian divers tragically lost their lives while scuba diving in Verde Island, Batangas, on Thursday, February 7, according to the Coast Guard Batangas.

The incident occurred in a section of Pulong Bato, where four Russian nationals were diving when they were suddenly swept away by a strong current.

Two of the divers managed to escape the water, but the other two went missing.

One of the missing divers was later found and rushed to a hospital but was declared dead on arrival. After several hours, the body of the remaining diver was recovered.

Authorities revealed that the second diver had lost an arm, possibly from a shark attack. The Coast Guard is continuing its investigation into the incident.
