BUTUAN CITY – A member of the Citizen Armed Force Geographical Unit (CAFGU) was killed, and another was wounded after being ambushed by New People’s Army (NPA) rebels in Purok-5, Brgy. Ang Sto. Niño, Bayugan City, Agusan del Sur province last night.
The deceased victim was identified as Jerick Gumapac Daclan, a resident of Sibagat, Agusan del Sur, while his wounded companion, Wilson Gano Sandaya, sustains a gunshot wound at the back of his neck.
According to the report of Brgy. Captain Alma Tagbe Mahinay, the victims were riding a motorcycle when they were suddenly shot by an estimated 40 armed men at around 8:00 PM last night.
The Bayugan City Police Station, led by PLCOL Josef Carlo Silang, has already coordinated with the 65th Infantry Battalion (IB), Philippine Army, who recovered the victims and took them to the hospital.
