BUTUAN CITY – The damage from the flooding caused by three days of rain brought by the shearline and easterlies in Caraga Region has reached over ₱70 million. This includes ₱64,000,000 in agricultural damage due to flooded fields and crops, as well as ₱4,700,000 in infrastructure damage caused by flooded bridges and roads.

In an exclusive interview with Bombo Radyo Butuan, Carlo Boneto Becera, the Information Officer III of the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) Caraga, revealed that as of press time, approximately 13,218 families, or 48,000 individuals, have been affected by the bad weather.

These affected individuals come from 58 barangays in Agusan del Sur, Agusan del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and Surigao del Norte. Currently, only a rainfall advisory is being issued, as the effects of the bad weather have started to weaken.

As of now, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has already provided initial aid to the affected towns.

Travelers within and outside the Caraga Region no longer have to worry, as all roads in the region, which were initially submerged by floodwaters, are now passable.

However, due to the ongoing easterlies, rain showers are still expected in the coming days.
